Brand Designer

Sydney · Hybrid (Contract)

We're looking for a talented brand designer to join our team.

About the role

  • This is a contract role based in Sydney with a hybrid work setup, and could be turned into part time or full time for the right person. We are open to mid to senior levels of experience.
  • Brand design at UntilNow is AI augmented and craft led. You'll use AI image and asset generation tools as a natural part of your workflow.
  • You'll bring brand strategy to life across identity, expression, marketing surfaces and websites.
  • You'll work under the Creative leadership team and contribute strongly to the strategic thinking behind the work.

What you will do

The daily life of a Brand Designer at UntilNow looks something like this:

  • Bring brand strategy to life as brand expression. Help create brand identities and asset systems for our clients, working under the Creative leadership team.
  • Use AI image and asset generation tools (Midjourney, Firefly, ChatGPT, Sora and others) to accelerate concept exploration, moodboarding, asset variation, and bespoke imagery for client work.
  • Design across the full spectrum of brand surfaces, including marketing websites, landing pages and digital brand applications in close collaboration with our web and product teams.
  • Brainstorm initial ideas and carry them through to concept development and visualisation, ultimately taking expression through to a system based on strategy, principles and implementation.
  • Be primarily responsible for the visual thrust behind any ideas being presented, while contributing meaningfully to the strategic thinking and conceptual rationale behind those ideas.
  • At times, be the lead creative on particular projects. This requires you to have the basic skills necessary to manage yourself and the projects of other designers, delivering compelling work from beginning to end.
  • Have your finger on the pulse of current trends in the world of design, art, fashion, creativity and culture, and bring that inspiration and enthusiasm into the design studio every day.
  • Know when to follow design rules, and when to break them.

Your background

  • 4+ years hands on experience as a Brand Designer with relevant training
  • Studio, in house, agency or mixed experience
  • Active use of AI image and asset generation tools as part of your design workflow
  • Proficiency in Figma as your primary design tool
  • Experience designing for web alongside identity work, including landing pages, marketing sites and digital brand systems
  • Efficient, detail oriented, organised, and able to work to deadlines
  • Able to get under the skin of client issues. Curiosity is good.
  • Extremely comfortable designing and building decks, with the ability to be articulate, confident and assertive in presenting work
  • Strong creative instincts and willingness to push further through experimentation
  • Curious about brands and the positive impact they can have on the world
  • Interested in more than just design. We like well rounded individuals.
  • Ambitious self starter who can thrive in ambiguity
  • Authorised to work in Australia

Nice to haves

  • Additional skills are a big plus. Let us know if you toy with motion, coding, illustration, etc.
  • Experience working in Webflow or other no code web platforms
  • Familiarity with AI workflow tooling (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) beyond image generation
  • Portfolio that shows brand systems applied across digital and physical surfaces

For our team we also offer the following:

  • Flexible office days. Work from home on Mondays and Fridays. The other 3 days (Tuesday to Thursday) are with us in The Commons.
